Too Bad I won't have this cutie cheering me on! This was when I ran a half marathon in Wisconsin a couple of years ago! What was I thinking?! Don't ever train for an October Marathon when you live in Arizona. It is my new mantra! The last few days have been the first sub 100 degree temps in months!! Saturday was our last long run before the big event October 6th 2007! The first 13 miles were actually great and I was feeling really good about myself. Then the sun came out and is was a miserable trek back to the car and civilization. It's not that I expected it to be easy, but knowing we have 26.2 to run in less than 3 weeks was making me hope I was a bit more prepared.
I am just going to have to accept the fact that I will be running....no walking....no crawling across the finish line with a time closer to 5 hours rather than the sub 4 I was hoping for. I also have to remind myself that the last time I ran this I was a decade younger. My training has been pathetic this time and my joints are having a hard time with all the down hills. Anyway, if your in Dixie over Conference weekend just mosey on over to the finish line once they have cleaned it all up and I'm sure you'll find me there in a heap on the side of the road.

Hey, my husband is running St. George, too. (And I am very sick of the training--except how it makes him lot all hot and young--because of the hours away.) Good luck!
Ha ha ha! "A heap on the side of the road." That made me giggle! Just the imagery of that is so funny. I just posted a few days ago on my pathetic, A.D.D. running style; go read my Forrest Gump post & you'll feel better about yourself ;)
I think it is great that you are doing this. However, I have stood at many a finish line waiting for JIm and it seriously is hard to watch people cross the finish line when they are colapsing...crawling...staggering. I'm sure you will be running strong.
p.s. Is there a reason we have to tyle in a random assortment of letters to leave you a comment? I often have to type it in twice because I mess up the first time.
Just for you Marcie I have turned off my word verification! It is a way to avoid spam comments. If I happen to start having a problem with it I will have to reactivate it. For now, comment away unhindered!!
way to go Kara! And fun to see my roommate Jessica comment on your blog. I'm always amazed at anyone who can run more than 5 miles at a given time. I think I could maybe walk 26 miles, but run -- no way!
You are incredible for doing this Kara. I admire anyone who can make the commitment to run 26.2 miles! Best of luck to ya! I'm sure you'll do great!
I didn't know you're running this year, Kara. Good for you. I tried to run the two miles to the riparian today and was dying, so yes, I truly admire you! By the way, Claire totally pointed out all kinds of nature things from Joy School...and even sang a song you must have taught her. She recounted her Joy School activities as we went by where you guys were. Thanks for that!
