Good Mall Day

No, these pictures are not of my butt!!! I WISH!! I have never been much of a shopper and actually avoid the mall especially with my kids. Well, today I had a lot of returns/errands to run that could all be done at one mall 20 min. away. So, being Thursday where I have 2 hours with just Nora while the others are at their various schools I decided to brave it! It ended up being a very good mall day!!
My first item of business was to return a shirt from Banana Republic and since I used my Gap card I didn't have to search for my receipt! I love receipt look up!! Next I went across the hallway to the Aveda store to get my new smoothing serum that Sally introduced me to last weekend. Next I headed upstairs to return a shirt at the Gap that I LOVED, but was just a bit too pricey for me. As I headed up the the register I noticed a sale sign hanging over the very same shirts and low and behold......they were now 1/2 off!!! I was so excited and just got the price adjustment instead!
My next item of business was to go to Nordstrom to have my new jeans hemmed. While in L.A. with my friends they schooled me on the benefits of designer jeans and assured me of their worth. I was sold, but still winced as I handed over the debit card for their purchase. As I may have mentioned before I am a bit of a minimalist and doubled my jean wardrobe with the purchase of just those two pair of jeans. So, on my way to Nordstrom I was walking by American Eagle because a friend of mine had told me that they have some really cute trouser jeans right now. I figured I would stop and take a look. Well, they were full of great jeans and I couldn't help buy two pair.
Now, going back to the minimalist thing I was thinking...."I do NOT need 6 pairs of jeans!" I have two at home, two in my Nordstrom bag that cost more than my bedroom furniture (okay so it's old, but it sounds good), and the two I just bought at AE. So, to my Wicked friends, BRACE YOURSELVES! I ended up taking the Nordstrom designer jeans back!!! I just can't let go of my practical side yet. Perhaps I will come into the land of designer jeans, but the call of getting two pair at AE for less than the cost of one pair of Sevens, or Citizens (see above pics) was just too great. Baby steps! I did pay full price for the AE jeans though and they were $49.50. The most I've EVER paid for jeans if you don't count the designer ones I returned.
Anyway, I'm sure you all don't care a lick about this post, but I felt really good about my shopping day and I got it all done before it was time to pick up the Kindergartner and Preschooler! One thing that could have tarnished the good mall day was some guy that tried to hit on me at the mall. At first it was flattering because he looked really normal and not creepy, but then I thought..."any guy who hits on a girl pushing a stroller, and with a ring on her finger has got to be a freak!?" Happy shopping!!

Ohhh! I loved this post! Girl, you are a woman after my own heart! And I feel like I love you already! I never understood how someone could spend that much on a pair of jeans? I too am a one/two pair jean kinda girl. I had a friend give me a pair after I had my baby(citizen of humanity or something like that). This pair would fit my post-prego figure. I really didn't care what the brand was, just that they'd fit me and that I wouldn't have to buy an interum pair. So I have been wearing them, and honestly, I don't like the feeling I get when I wear them! Sounds crazy I know! I don't like people thinking I am the type of person who would spend that kind of money on a pair of jeans - just denim really, with a name on it! When I wear them, I make sure I have a shirt long enough to cover up the label on the back pocket!! I am happy to report that I am slowly returning to my pre-prego size and the jeans are happily getting too big! I'll be glad when they are NOT the only pair that fits me! (Sorry such a long comment! I just have been thinking on this subject a lot as of late!)

This is SO funny! You are awesome, Kara. I've always thought you were the best dresser, honestly. No matter what you wear, you look great. I am seriously jealous. Then again, I had a roommate who was 100% practical and always saved money where she could, but she bought jeans for a hundred dollars every semester. Whatever makes you happy, I guess!

Speaking of being a minimalist...

I remember when we were both living in KY and you told me that you had gone through your closet and gotten rid of almost everything, and you just had a few things hanging in your closet and you loved that feeling. You said why hang onto things forever on the off chance that you might wear it someday. I've remembered that forever, and everytime I clean out my closet I think of that conversation and find the strength to get rid of stuff.

As far as jeans go, I think I have quite a few pairs, but I don't know why because I just wear the same pair everyday. It's easier than trying to think in the morning.

You truly are an inspiration! I feel like going through my closet now and getting rid of everything but my church clothes and two pairs of jeans and t-shirts. That's all I ever wear anyway. I am constantly looking for the perfect pair of jeans though. My sis-in-law has a pair of Sevens and has tried to convince me to get some but I just can't do it.

I love it! I shop just like you. My style has taken a hit since I don't have time to frequent stores the way that I use to. But their is no better feeling then walking out of the mall knowing that you just got a great outfit and that you got it for a steal!

Okay Kara, the most I've spent on jeans was 90 bucks (once). I only have 2 pair of jeans too, and the 90 dollar ones are the only ones I'll wear! It seems that the better the fit the higher the price huh? Mine are Big Star jeans from Buckle. Awesome jeans...if you need one more pair! Ha ha.

Love it! I'm so cheap about jeans that I still have all my old pegged jeans that were in style 7 years ago . . .surely it's about time for them to make a come back?!

Kara I'll let you in on a little secret, both the designer jeans and the AE jeans cost about the same to make, so in my book the most savvy consumers get the price closest to the manufacturing cost.

Plus now you have more credibility to say no when your your 12 year old wants the $200 designer jeans.
