The First Presidency

Although President Hinckley is undoubtedly a tough act to follow, I have complete faith that the Lord is the head of this church and that the leaders are divinely inspired. I am excited to see this new presidency in action.

I wish the decision for the next president of the country was this easy to accept and this divinely inspired.

I loved catching up on all the Kelly happenings over the past week. I am computerless for a while..so I hope to be able to get some late night lap top time every once in a while.

I'm excited as well!

We met Pres. Monson last year on Romey's birthday while we were eating at Little America. He and his wife sat right next to us. It was funny to listen to them deciding how much of a tip to leave. We were with Colin and Mary and of course Mary wasn't going to let the opportunity pass for us to talk to him. He and his wife where so kind to take time to chat with us and acted like they didn't have anything better to do. He gave each of the kids five and wiggled his ears for them. (I thought my dad was the only one who could do that). Romey drew a picture and wrote a letter to Pres. Monson a couple days later. We were so impressed when he responded personally to her letter. He remembered meeting her at Little America and encouraged Romey about her upcoming baptism. The letter has become a great tool in motivating Romey towards the waters of baptism and I'm so grateful for his response to her. What great comfort it is to know that our leaders are inspired. We are always in such great hands.

That is a great picture. It was fun to watch the press conference because you could tell that the reporters didn't know how a new president was called etc.. it is a great comfort and yes I wish the president of the US would be that easy too.

I had a thought while Pres. Monson was speaking during the press conference about how wonderful it is that he is called of God and that it isn't him who decides stuff and changes stuff like the Pres. of the US, like just because he is Pres. he isn't going to say tithing will now be 11%, but the Pres. of US can raise taxes just like that. At least we have one steady and sure leader we can always follow.
