Growing up...not an option!

I have to admit that I'm thrilled to finally be a part of the 'I don't want my kids to grow up' club. Let me explain...

For years I would get hit with an heavy dose of guilt every time I'd hear a mother declare that they just didn't want any of their kids to grow up. I was obviously in a stage where growing up sounded pretty good to me. I'm blaming this on a myriad of reasons, one of them being that my oldest child was 5 when my fourth was born. Yes...I was drowning in a sea of little people. This picture was taken one week before Nora was born. It really does capture how I felt. Our family was about to be complete... and I felt ready. This picture was taken one week after Nora was born. We were thrilled and it shows. The problem is...after a few more days...I started falling apart. It was hard...and I had hit my limit. I didn't want to admit that I wasn't able to handle it all...so I didn't.

It's been a rough three years since then, but we've turned a corner. My kids are still a lot of work, but I've somehow been able to start appreciating the fun more. When I see things like this...

...it kills me, and I know I will miss it when it's gone. This scene (in Ella's room) is becoming a regular occurrence...and I don't mind...because it will soon be gone. Here they are again in Nora's room. I mean c'mon...the hand holding...the thumb sucking...it's killin' me!!!How much longer are they going to want to do water slide trains like this? I hope forever...but you never know.

So...yes...I am one of those Mom's...officially!!! I DON'T WANT MY KIDS TO GROW UP!!

We talk to the kids about this often and how we expect them to stay little forever. They are all on board, but somehow time keeps passing us by. I feel like as their mother I need to lead by example. Therefore today I did my part to recapture my youth...and hold on for a while...Just call me brace face. Yes...I'm in pain...what was I thinking?!

You'll be so happy with the results. I promise. After giving birth in a car this will be a cake walk for you.

That post was so much of what i have been feeling lately. It fills me full of emotions that i don't quite know what to do with. so i just hug them {my babies}. a lot.

Good for you on the braces! I had adult braces. It was a special time. Most people hit their 'ugly stage' around 5th grade. Mine was during our poorest stage of marriage. During the poorest stage of marriage, you have no money for haircuts, or clothes and you are sickly and pregnant...with braces. It made me feel like a 'sweet spirit' to say the least. Lucky for you, you aren't pregnant, you have great hair and couldn't have an ugly stage if you wanted to. The time flies. They'll be off before you know it:)!

how do you get your kids to WANT to be together? My 8 year old is constantly yelling at my 3 year old to "LEAVE ME ALONE!!" I got braces after I had my first kid and felt like such a weirdo, you look great though, i should have gone with the clear ones...

First of all you look HOT!!! And think of how you will look after!! I hope your pain subsides soon. As for the club, I would like to join too!! We have it really good. We just have to hope that each stage will be just a fun as the last. It is what we don't know, or can't comprehend that makes change hard. ENJOY THE JOURNEY!!

LOVE that you got braces. I need them again on bottom but I don't think I have the gumption to do it again! And what a dang sweet wrap up. I have missed you. And hear what you are saying about keeping the hard parts to yourself. Why are we so dang hard on ourselves when our feelings are so normal? I am still really working on it as well. And those pictures sleeping are so precious.

Nice to know that I'm not the ONLY adult with braces on around there! I just passed my one year anniversary for the braces, and have been able to get the bottom off. How long have you got to go?

PS I noticed the post about giving birth in a car? Was that you? I ended up giving birth to our 4th child in the car...while we were driving in rush hour traffic....in a tunnel! crazy crazy crazy! haha
