RIP - Sammy Hammy Oct 2006-Feb 2008.

Our first pet Sammy Hammy (aka. Houdini) passed away peacefully on February 28th 2008. He was a good hamster who spent his days sleeping, and his nights scheming his escapes. He was successful many times in his attempts. We were always overjoyed when we found him in unexpected places. Sammy preferred the guest bathroom and made that his official vacation destination after trying out the master bathtub, Nora's closet, upstairs bathroom cupboards, and the master closet.

He is survived by his mourning family. Ella took the news particularly hard.

She and Sammy had a special bond that is immortalized by the T-shirt she got shortly after he joined our family.

We will miss you Sammy. Thanks for the memories.

Crap. I hate it when pets die. That picture of you comforting Emma is so cute.

Not telling Liv. I think she might be as sad as Ella. Good thing for Maggie!

That is the one downside to pets. They tear your heart out when they die. I recently shed tears over a HERMIT CRAB we had for 6 months. Pathetic, I know, but you really get attached to those you take care of.

Hope the mourning period is short lived!

SO sad. I'm so attached to ours right now I think it's scary to think her life is short. She's getting good at finding "vacation destinations" at night too. The kids keep forgetting to put the twisties on her cage after they play with her. We found her in Dave's closet last night. You need to get a new one.

So sad about Sammy. He's been a part of your family for so long. Poor Ella. I hope everyone is on the recovery.
