I promise this is still Kara's blog and I have no intention of posting frequently, but as I downloaded this photo of my wife's look of TERROR...I had to share.
Jack had a baby tooth that was hanging around too long and before his teeth start looking like Hugh Grant's I figured this is my 'thing' and I should do something about it. For weeks I've been telling Jack to come into my office and let's pull the tooth. Each time it was received with much crying etc...So a couple of weeks ago, after church on a Sunday, I was playing with him on the couch and happened once again to look at his teeth and ask him the golden question. To all of our surprise he said okay...but lets go now. I took him up on the offer. He did GREAT!!! His mom not so much. What does she think I do all day? Is this the face of confidence? Here are a few fun photos of the kids joking with Jack while he was waking up from sedation. Max would say, "wake up little girl" and of course jack would lie motionless with no come back or response. Jack did well and I'm proud of him.
*Kara here...Okay, once again, I feel I need to explain! I do not usually get nervous, and NEVER get grossed out. (Three of my kids have been under general anesthetic before...Jack three times) But, SEEING your child put to sleep is a whole other thing. I did not anticipate that it would be hard for me to see, but it was. Here is your child, laughing (yes the laughing gas made him laugh...a lot) and then all of the sudden he's out cold taking deep wheezing breaths. It's a little unnerving. Of course they had him hooked up to every possible monitoring system, so I knew everything was fine. I think it's just that 'mother instinct' that kicks in because no one was more surprised than I was that it was hard to watch. Paul commented to me that my reaction is exactly why they don't let people come back into the room to watch usually. We just don't understand I guess. So...yes...I became one of those emotional mothers...and we all survived.*

Whatever, Paul... "no intention of posting frequently." PSHAW!!!
You are totally addicted to blogging now aren't you!! :)
That was cute!
I have very sensitive feelings on the matter at this point. Last Wednesday I had my wisdom teeth out and 4 screws and two metal plates put in. I am out of Percocet. I am still not able to eat solid foods. AHHHH!! Is this normal?? I really thought I'd be feeling 100% by now. Oral surgeons are not my friends.
i understand!!!!!!! i am a FREAK about my kids. i LOVE your new banner...such cute kids!
That is a cute story. I am a totally freak out mom.
That would be unnerving.
I had never really thought about how that would feel. But as I read your post I am so with you. It's not something we are use to seeing at all. On paper it all sounds routine enough but watching must be a different ball game.
I also have to say that I love when you guys blog together. Good stuff!
Priceless picture of you Kara! I am campaigning for a PK Blog. Good Stuff!
It's nice to see that Jack pulled through. Tell Jack how lucky he is. Tell him his cousin Romey had a molar pulled by a dentist that uses no topical numbing jell, and no happy gas. The tooth wasn't loose or ready at all, we just pulled it because it was close enough that we figured we wouldn't spend the money to fix the cavity. However we paid out the nose a year earlier on the same tooth to cap it. Ugh. Anyway, the whole experience was pretty much straight to the pain. I'm sure she will always remember it.
I have to say that i was a little surprised to see Kara's face. That's not like you Kara. I do however understand, Titan and Crew have been put out and I really don't like it either.
Your face is hilarious! I can barely handle them getting their teeth checked, let alone a cavity! I can't imagine them going all the way under!
Too Funny!! How great is that picture of Max totally slapping his brother!! I can't stop laughing!! He's no dummy. He gives it when nothing can be given in return!! Smart boy!
Now that I am done laughing, I am there with you! Like all Mothers are, I am sure! You are just more brave than I have ever been. I always make Justin be the one to hold their hand when they are "going out".
Hilarious! I can see max LOVING the free teasing! And how nice is that....our dentist was gonna charge us $200 to pull Remington's shark teeth out (they were VERY loose, and he was already gonna be sedated)!
I don't know if you read my blog, but if you get a chance stop by. There is a blog award awaiting you.
